Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attends the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings (8 October 2024, Vientiane)
Myanmar Delegation led by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar participated in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM), 28th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting and 35th ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting separately held in Vientiane, Lao PDR on 8 October 2024.
Foreign Ministers from ASEAN Member States, ASEAN Senior Officials and ASEAN Secretary-General attended the said Meetings, and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Timor-Leste also participated as an observer.
The Meetings discussed and reviewed the progress of implementation of the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Blueprint 2025, priority deliverables across the three community pillars under the ASEAN Chairmanship of the Lao PDR in 2024, and the development of the ASEAN Political and Security Strategic Plans which has been being crafted as part of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, as well as exchanged views on regional and international issues.
Myanmar delegation led by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Myanmar’s continued support to the Lao PDR as the 2024 ASEAN Chair in delivering its Chairmanship priorities by joining hands with other ASEAN Member States, as a responsible member of ASEAN.
The 35th ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting endorsed the alphabetical appointment of H.E. U San Lwin as the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community.
