Ambassadors of the ASEAN Committee in Rome meet with the Head the IDLO

The Ambassadors of the ASEAN Committee in Rome meet with the Head of the International Development Law Organisation (IDLO) Director General Ms. Jan Beagle at the IDLO Headquarters under the arrangement of the Embassy of Malaysia in its capacity as the Chair of the ACR on 20 June 2014.
The meeting intends to better understand the work, mandates and role of the IDLO as well as its current programmes and projects implemented in the Asia region including in the ASEAN Countries. At the meeting, ACR’s Ambassadors and IDLO Director General also exchanged views on areas for the possible collaboration between the ASEAN Committee in Rome and the IDLO and on IDLO’s Strategic Plan 2025-2028.
As an intergovernmental organisation, IDLO advocates for the promotion of the rule of law to advance peace and sustainable development.

On 8 August 2023, Myanmar Embassy in Rome participated in the ASEAN Day Celebration in commemoration of the 56th Anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), convened at the Philippine Embassy in its capacity as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR).
The event was honoured by Ambassador Alessandra Schiavo, Deputy Director General of the Global Affairs of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation along with Ambassadors and Chargé d’Affaires of ASEAN Embassies in Rome – namely, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines and Viet Nam. The Celebration was graciously joined by Ambassadors of ASEAN Dialogue Partners in Rome, and Representatives of ACR’s Partners in Italy.
The celebration was filled with colours and exhibition of a wide range of ASEAN cultural heritages including handicrafts, musical instruments, costumes and artifacts. The event began by singing ASEAN Anthem and the ceremonial cutting of the cake, served by national dishes of ASEAN, and further accelerated by a cultural performance of students from the Philippines Community in Rome. This year’s anniversary carried the theme “Epicentrum of Growth” in line with Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2023.
