Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Myanmar to Rome pays courtesy calls on the Apostolic Nuncio and ASEAN Ambassadors in Rome

Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Italy, U Soe Thet Naung, paid separate courtesy calls in January on His Excellency Monsignor Petar Rajič, Apostolic Nuncio and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Italy, as well as on Ambassadors and Acting Heads of Mission of ASEAN countries based in Rome.

During these meetings, cordial and constructive exchanges views were held on matters relating to cooperation within the diplomatic community, collaboration among Rome-based diplomatic missions, and activities of the ASEAN Committee in Rome. Views were also shared in a friendly and open manner on strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation.

Chargé d’Affaires a.i. also engaged in open and frank discussions on matters related to Myanmar’s electoral process in response to inquiries from the Apostolic Nuncio and ASEAN Ambassadors. The meetings took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of mutual respect and goodwill among the diplomatic community in Rome.

In addition, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. attended the 82nd ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR) Ambassadors’ Meeting and the occasion of the handover of the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR), which was held at the Embassy of the Philippines in Rome on 23 January 2026.
