Myanmar delegation attends 12th St Petersburg International Legal Forum

The Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Legal Affairs Union Attorney-General Dr. Thida Oo participated in the 12th St Petersburg International Legal Forum held in the Russian Federation at the invitation of Russian Minister of Justice Mr. Konstantin A Chuychenko.
The Plenary Session of the 12th St Petersburg International Legal Forum was held under the theme ‘Law as the Basis for Global Balance’.
During the opening meeting of Justice Ministers, the union minister said the ministry is working on the 2015-2019 Strategic Plan with four objectives under the name ‘Towards Justice’ and the 2020-2024 Strategic Plan with five objectives under the title ‘Legal Services for Justice’. Of these objectives, establishing sustainable cooperation with international organizations and partner countries is included. She also mentioned the enhancement of bilateral relations between the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice via the dialogue exchange on legal systems, legal experiences, workshops and plenary sessions.
The Myanmar delegation also participated in the talks held on different topics related to legal affairs during the 12th St Petersburg International Legal Forum. The Ministry of Legal Affairs signed a memorandum of cooperation on legal affairs with the Russian Ministry of Justice on 12 May 2023 and a memorandum of cooperation on legal affairs with the Russian Prosecutor-General Office on 22 March 2023.
The delegation will attend the meeting on the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Russian Prosecutor-General Office, which will be held in Moscow
